Description
Rolling, pivoting and crawling are ways infants can playfully ‘workout’! Floor mobility builds strength and balance while supporting infants to be adventurous and connect with the world around them. For infants with cerebral palsy, type, topography, severity and associated impairments all impact how and when infants start to move on the floor.
Extending from Specific Training – General Principles, this module applies these principles to the task of floor mobility.
Through this module, learners will understand the benefits of early practice in prone and develop skills in task-specific training activities to support infants to mobilise and explore on the floor.
By completing this module, you will learn to:
- Identify stages and functions of floor mobility
- Identify the factors affecting floor mobility skills for infants with cerebral palsy
- Apply clinical decision-making skills to set up task-specific training at the just right level of challenge to progress floor mobility skills
