Description

This module explores Action Observation Training as an evidence-based intervention for infants with cerebral palsy. You’ll learn what Action Observation Training is, how it supports motor learning through the mirror neuron system, and how it can be applied in therapy and everyday routines. You will also develop skills in how to share information with and empower caregivers, and you will see how to incorporate Action Observation Training to maximise outcomes through playful, meaningful and family-centered approaches.

By completing this module, you will learn to:

  • Explain the principles of Action Observation Training and its evidence base as an effective intervention for infants with cerebral palsy.
  • Demonstrate how to structure home practice to ensure an adequate and effective dose of therapy when using Action Observation Training.
  • Apply strategies to coach and support parents in implementing Action Observation Training and other home practice activities.
  • Integrate Action Observation Training into individualised therapy programs that balance effectiveness with sustainability for families.
