Description
Bimanual therapy is an upper-limb intervention to support infants with asymmetric arm and hand function to successfully use two hands together. In this module, you will gain skills to identify key components of bimanual hand tasks, considerations for selection of bimanual therapy over constraint-induced movement therapy in infants, and application of bimanual interventions in your clinical practice.
CPAdvance Training modules on Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy and Bimanual Therapy are designed to be completed in conjunction with each other. The content in these modules is complementary.
By completing this module, you will learn to:
- Identify how early asymmetric brain damage can impact hand function
- Analyse the key components of bimanual therapy
- Apply clinical decision-making skills to select activities and toys for advancing bimanual skills, matched to the infant’s abilities
- Distinguish between bimanual therapy and mCIMT to determine clinical decision-making in practice
